    Colonel Terje Haaverstad joined CIDS in February 2013, and is the centre’s leading military expert. Today Colonel Haaverstad is an International Expert of the CIDS.
    He has gained a wide range of experience over more than 30 years in different staff and leadership positions at home and abroad. He worked for several years at the Norwegian MoD, seven years at four different NATO regional HQs, four years in the Norwegian foreign service and a year at a UN mission. For the last thirteen years, he worked on domestic defence planning, bi- and multilateral defence and security Cooperation, compliance and integrity building/anti-corruption, as well as defence institution-building and with military operations. He has also been involved in security sector reform processes in Southeast Europe and the Western Balkans in particular, but also Africa (South Sudan).
    Colonel Haaverstad holds an MA in military studies from the Norwegian Defence University College and has attended the Norwegian National Defence College.
